Acts of Patriotism

The group continues to emulate Dr. Rizal’s love for the Philippines and his countrymen through activities that help uplift Filipinos.

For instance, on 1 December 2013, the KGCR held a historic event at Rizal Park shortly after the devastation wrought by typhoon “Yolanda” (code named Haiayan) in Eastern Visayas, most especially in the Leyte Islands.

The group staged a fun run where proceeds formed part of OKOR’s donations to survivors fo the calamity. The KGCR fun run gathered a thousand participants and was capped with military honors led by the Philippine Marine Corps at the Rizal monument grounds. The typhoon survivors who were airlifted from their devastated home province carried the flags of the benefactor-countries during the ceremonies and in their native dialects expressed their gratitude before the international media.

This historic event also marked the 100th year of the Rizal Monument, which was subsequently declared as a national treasure by the National Museum of the Philippines.

On the global front, KGCR has also awarded the Women of Malolos Medal to Madam Brigette Terrian Ayrault, wife of France Prime Minister Jean Mark Ayrault, for her exemplary support for the street children of Manila. The ceremony was held in Paris, France.
